PACE Anti-Piracy Updates iLok.com to Include Advanced Features
August 10, 2006 Filed in: iLok.com
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
World’s first end user hardware based activation and license management site updated to add support for additional advanced features – bundled licenses and ownership transfer approvals.
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – August 2006 – PACE Anti-Piracy Inc., a leader in the development and licensing of anti-piracy systems for software publishers, has completed an update to the iLok user services site: http://www.iLok.com adding support for new features including bundled licenses and the ability for software publishers to approve the transfer of ownership of licenses for their products.
Bundled licenses are a group of licenses that are bound together at time of deposit to the iLok.com user’s account. They are deposited as a group, downloaded to an iLok as a group and moved between iLoks or iLok.com accounts as a group. Additionally, features for these licenses, such as the ability of the bundle to be transferred from one iLok.com account to another, is set once for all products in the bundle. This new feature allows software publishers to enforce the grouping of licenses for their individual products.
Also new in this update is the ability for software developers to require their approval prior to the transfer of licenses for their product from one iLok.com account to another, or prior to the removal of an iLok with their license from an iLok.com account. The requirement for the approval is specified at the software product level, allowing for the approval to be required only for licenses for select software.
“Software publishers have asked for a way to maintain the grouping of licenses that they market and sell as a bundle,” explains Andrew Kirk, VP of Business Development, “and this update delivers that functionality and more. The ability to require an approval prior to certain activities gives the developer more control in the enforcement of their End User License Agreement and allows them to maintain their customer database more effectively.”

Features and Benefits of iLok.com
- FREE Registration: Sign up for Free. Register, name and organize your iLoks.
- Manage: The iLok can hold over 100 activations from different vendors and ilok.com provides users a way to download and organize licenses. iLok.com offers the ability for users to retrieve licenses sent to their iLok.com account. Licenses can have many different attributes such as: demo, timed licenses, NFR (not for resale), rental, and perpetual activation. Vendors can also use a subscription based model if desired.
- Move: Registered users can move their licenses between iLoks to allow more control over organizing their licenses. Note that vendors reserve the right to restrict this feature with respect to their products depending upon their specific license agreements.
- Support: While the iLok is a simple and robust product, it is not immune to harsh treatment. iLok.com offers an automated RMA process online to assist end users in determining if there is a problem with their iLok.
- Zero Downtime: ZDT is the world’s most advanced RMA process. Designed by engineers with feedback from end users who have been through a multitude of RMA processes, ZDT helps the user to get back to work within minutes. Users subscribe to the premium service for a $30.00 fee per iLok. If an iLok is broken or has an issue, the customer can use ZDT to get instant temporary replacement activations sent to their ilok.com account. The end user must have a back-up iLok or a second iLok to use. In order for perpetual licenses to be issued, the broken iLok must be returned to PACE for analysis. Note that some rare cases, due to licensing agreements, the ZDT replacement are not enabled for all products. ILok.com makes these options and exceptions clear to the users.
